It’s not very often that we see a top actress playing sister to the hero in films. Well, Meera Jasmine is doing just that.
The comely belle is returning to Kannada cinema with director Sai Prakash’s film "Devaru Kotta Thangi". A feelgood sentimental drama, the movie has Meera playing the sister of the hero, being played by Shivaraj Kumar , son of the legendary Kannada actor Raj Kumar.
Interestingly, the title of the film is inspired by late Raj Kumar's film of the same name, which was released more than three decades ago.
‘Devaru Kotta Thangi’ would mark Meera’s return to Kannada films after a gap of four years. She has played female leads in Kannada movies like ‘Maurya’ and ‘Arrasu’ opposite the leading Kannada actor Puneet Raj Kumar.
Director Sai Prakash says he had only Meera in mind for ‘Devaru Kotta Thangi’ when he finished the script.
"…when the script was finished, I couldn't think of casting any other actor other than Meera Jasmine. She completely fits into the hero’s sister’s character. And I didn't mind waiting to get her dates," said Sai Prakash.
The film was launched recently, but Meera could not make it to the mahurat because she was busy shooting a Telugu film.
The movie has Malayalam actor Monica playing the hero’s love interest.
