Priyanka to play Mohanlal's wife in 'Seven Husbands'

Priyanka's finding her 'possible' love

Like any other girl, Priyanka Chopra has probably loved and lost and loved again. So if she has a standoffis attitude towards love and is wary to talk about it, we wouldn’t be surprised really.

But while talking to ZOOM about her next film Pyaar Impossible, Priyanka had a refreshing take on love, she confessed, “Pyaar is never impossible. It becomes impossible at situations and circumstances. It often happens that you can’t confess your love because you just can’t say it! But even after trying if it doesn’t happen... then it wasn’t meant for you.”

We really hope this sweet romantic finds true love. In the meanwhile, we must say the Kapoor boy has a good effect on Ms. Chopra. Well, anything is possible, really. Though she quite ‘impossibly’ still says she’s single. But then when you’re that hot, a lie or two is ‘possibly’ excused, okay?

I love diamonds: Priyanka

Bollywood’s ‘fashion’able Priyanka Chopra is the latest brand ambassador of Gitanjali Group’s Asmi range of jewellery.

The Gitanjali Group is India’s largest fully integrated diamond and jewellery manufacturer and retailer and the pioneer of branded jewellery in India. Which makes it an honour for Priyanka to endorse the brand. “I am quite simplistic in my taste of diamond jewellery. I believe in myself and the brand also stands for women who believe in themselves, women of spirit, something which I personally identify with it. Asmi identifies with almost everything I stand for which is why I feel great endorsing it,” Priyanka states.

What’s more, the new Asmi TVC is said to be modelled on the actress’ life. “I am playing myself. The ad film is almost like a day in the life of Priyanka Chopra, it’s about various instances, things and moments that happen to me. I have fears too but it’s ok for you to feel scared. It shouldn’t take one away from success, from being independent and strong, from achieving your dreams and that is what this TVC and the brand Asmi is all about.”

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but what does Priyanka think of diamonds? “Diamonds can never be taken away from women. No woman would like to part with them. Diamonds make a women complete. I love diamonds,” smiles Priyanka. “The word ‘Asmi’ in Sanskrit means, ‘I Am’. That’s exactly what the modern Indian woman stands for today. She has stepped out of the shadows and is charting her own destiny. Free-spirited, independent, confident and yet feminine in every respect, that is the Asmi woman.

So when it came to finding a woman for the TV commercial, the choice was a unanimous one: Priyanka Chopra. An achiever in her own right, independent and the epitome of grace and beauty, she is truly a woman of spirit. She is the Asmi woman in the television commercial and in life,” says Gitanjali Group chairman Mr Mehul Choksi. Asmi is a premium diamond jewellery brand from the Gitanjali Group, one of the leading names in the luxury-lifestyle retail space today.

Making news by Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra's words are reaching ar and wide, and not just metaphorially. The actress' immensely popular weekly Celeb and the City column in HT City, has inspired two of her fans; one based in London and the other in Toronto start a newsletter dedicated to the actress.

The newsletter, titled PC Times, is, in the words of its creators -- Daniel Pillai and Marianne Thompson -- "an effort to connect with an admirable and beautiful individual" through her column for HT City.

In the very first edition of PC Times, which was published on November 28, Pillai declared: "Each issue will contain a personal response to your HT columns by both Marianne and me, and we hope to have future issues include tweets and messages from fans and well-wishers all across the globe."

The following issue, published on December 9, was a special issue on Child Rights, inspired by Priyanka's concern for the same. It also had letters from Priyanka's fans and her weekly horoscope.

Priyanka beats Aamir, Dhoni, Hrithik

Priyanka Chopra certainly seems to be having a great year. A recent survey conducted by TAM media research shows the actor has emerged as the top brand endorser in 2009 (data tabulated till September).

Interestingly, Priyanka has edged past endorsement giants like MS Dhoni, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan.

Explaining the reason behind Priyanka's phenomenal growth, T Gangadhar, veteran media analyst and head honcho of Mediaedge:cia India, says, "She has managed to be on top of our minds through her brilliant performances in movies and her choice of endorsements. She has picked up some really good clients and hasn't lost out on the existing ones. Thus, she has only added strength to her portfolio."

Gangadhar adds, "Priyanka is an extremely glam girl who can also mould herself as the girl-next-door. It reflects on her choice of movies (going glam for Dostana and Fashion and deglam for Kaminey). This automatically widens her horizon while choosing brands. Thus, she has managed to be the face of the biggest mobile phone company in the world, a luxury watch brand, a giant two-wheeler company and has also endorsed products like soaps, shampoos and even a men's garment line."

Anil Dua, senior VP of the two-wheeler company that Priyanka endorses, says, "We chose her because she's not only bindass but also a no-nonsense person. She shows a lot of clarity in thinking."

However, Harish Bijoor, another top analyst, feels this is a 'one-off' thing. He says, "Though the year has been good for Priyanka, a hero can never be replaced by a heroine. Cinema and advertising are hero-driven industries and they will continue to remain the same regardless of this exception. At the same time I don't want to take away the credit from Priyanka. She represents the modern Indian woman."

Speaking about her achievement, Priyanka says, "I'm high on life. This year has been truly great for me. I have essayed different roles, my acting has been appreciated and I've won awards for my performances. Now, I'm also the top brand in India. That's a feat I humbly cherish. This gives me an extra drive to continue the hard work and not let my fans down. :melikes: So, I'm going to continue striving for excellence relentlessly."

When asked to define her brand image in a sentence, she laughed and asked, "Just one sentence to define me?" So obviously we gave her some leeway and Priyanka went on to say, "I can be what is required of me — I can be intelligent, smart, sexy, shy and the girl-next-door. I have done a film in which I have shown 12 personalities and so I would say I'm young and someone whom people can relate to."

Aim for excellence, says Priyanka Chopra

Success, it is said, is a journey and not a destination. As with everything else in life, how you conduct yourself on that journey is what will determine your continued success or your complete failure.

I come from a very humble background, far removed from the world in which I exist today. My first brush with this new world was at age 17. In the nano-second that it took them to place the Miss India-Miss World crown on my head, I had crossed into a new world. Nothing has ever been the same since. The world, as I knew it, ceased to exist. Then came the movies and with it, instant success and adulation that literally knocked me off my feet! The journey had well and truly begun.

In my line of work, nothing is certain and nothing can be taken for granted. A film career gives you so much — fame, power, money — but it also asks for a lot in return, a lesson I learnt early in my career.

I was riding high, with a bright and promising career in front of me, when I hit my first road block. Maybe it's a natural way of life, but the first failure can have a profound effect on your life. I learnt that pedestals which are built one Friday can easily be knocked down the next. Success is unimaginably heady while failure can be ruthless, literally cutting out the ground from beneath one's feet.

It was only my family and the values I grew up with which saw me through the tough times. I remember my father telling me that failure is part of life and I will encounter it often but it's how I deal with it that will make the difference. Quitting, he said, like winning, can also become a habit.

There have been some great times and some really bad times in the journey so far and both have taught me important lessons. I believe these have led me to where I am today and will take me to where I want to be. They're really quite simple:

Build the jaw of a prize fighter:
There will be punches — hard and fast. You have to learn how to roll with them.

Understand that we live in a critical world:
But criticism is not always bad, just tough to digest. You have to recognise the constructive parts and ignore the rest.

Talent and luck are the icing on the cake:
But nothing works like hard work. It only adds to the talent and luck you possess.

Be a sponge:
Absorb and grow. Learning is a continuous process. You meet people everyday who will teach you something new. You have to recognise the need to constantly evolve or you will become stagnant, which is a professional curse.

An outlet from work is a must:
Find your own 'thing' that helps you get away from what you do from time to time. It helps refresh your energies.

Don't let success or adulation get to your head:
It's so very easy to do! Revel in it, appreciate it but don't let it take over.

Aim for excellence:
As Aristotle once said, "We are what we repeatedly do" . Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit! I don't know where my journey will lead me. All I know is at the end, I WILL arrive, slightly battered and bruised, but thinking, WHAT A RIDE!

Priyanka Chopra Snubs Katrina Kaif

Cordial relationship between two actresses is a scarcity in Bollywood and Priyanka Chopra's recent comments over Katrina Kaif's look in upcoming movie Rajniti, only underlines it.

Speaking to reporters about Katrina's de-glamorous look in the Prakash Jha-directed film, Priyanka said by taking off make up one could not become a better actor.

She thought that it was like hiding something and saying one was uninhibited.

Emboldened by critical acclaim she received for her performance in movie Fashion, the former Miss World said that in half of the Madhur Bhandarkar flick, she did not have make up and added she would do such roles when needed not just to show that she was acting well, which was a greater challenge for any actor.

Hope the cold war out of competition for numero uno position between the two actresses results into some power packed performances by them ensuring a treat for the movie-goers.
