Asin and Deepika are Latest buddies

'Om Shanthi Om' beauty Deepika Padukone and Asin, who hit the jackpot with Ghajini (Hindi) are currently ruling the roost, what with Deepika starring in Imitiaz Ali's Love Aaj Kal and Asin in London Dreams with Salman Khan. But other than the fact that both have prestigious projects lined up, they also have one more thing in common.

The latest in the grapevine is that is Asin and Deepika are revelling in a new-found friendship that thrives over SMS. Apparently, these SMS buddies exchange at least half a dozen messages each day, in spite of packed schedules.

Deepika, who is known for the apparent catfights with Sonam Kapoor and Bipasha Basu, is happy that Asin and she have struck up a good friendship. Deepika was overheard saying to another friend, “The nice part of my friendship with Asin is that we’re both daddy’s girls.’’

Quite true, as Asin thinks the world of her businessman father Joseph Thottumkal, and Deepika worships the courts on which her super dad Prakash Padukone plays badminton. Will this filmy friendship continue or will it bite the dust like many other hi-profile relationships ?

Deepika Padukone Tops Maxim Hot 100 Girls Worldwide List

Deepika Padukone, who seems to be the flavor of the season, has topped the just released Maxim Hot 100 girls worldwide list.Not just people at home, but even NRIs across the globe unanimously think of her as their hot favorite actress. The Maxim Hot list makes its debut in India this year.

The all excited Om Shanti Om actress said, ‘To be honest, personally I never thought of myself as sexy or hot but if that's the call that people have taken, then I hope I live up to it. I am so excited about this.’ The editor of Maxim-India, Anup Kutty said that Padukone was naturally their first choice due to her massive fan following and that too at the start of her film career. He added that she has the potential to become an international face.

Deepika Padukone Stuns With Stunts In Chandni Chowk To China

The Deepika Padukone fans are soon going to see her in a new avatar. One hears the lady was adamant about performing tough stunts all by herself in her forthcoming movie Chandni Chowk To China. Director Nikhil Advani is all praise for the Padukone girl, who is heard to have performed the stunts with amazing agility.

'There were some scenes that we thought to be too dangerous. But she insisted on doing away with the body double and also the wirings. She's very athletic, it runs in her family,' Nikhil Advani states. Advani has made blockbuster hit films such as 'Kal Ho Naa Ho' and 'Salaam-e-Ishq'.

Providing moral support to the actress was Akshay Kumar, who too is starring in the movie. Deepika Padukone worked really hard to get the stunts right and is delighted with the experience. What is more interesting is that that this film is inspired by the real life story of Akshay Kumar, who worked as chef in Bangkok before entering Bollywood.

Deepika in a Telugu movie 'Love 4 Ever'

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is expected to do an item number in Telugu film 'Love 4 Ever'. According to media sources, the 23-year-old actress will shoot for the Telugu item number from June 24 onwards. The film 'Love 4 Ever' is being directed and produced by Jayant C. Paranji under Laughing Waters Entertainment banner.


Starring Ranadeep and Mridula, the film is a different love story set in the backdrop of a grape garden. 'Love 4 Ever' will be made in Telugu as well as Hindi. Ram Sampath is the music director of the film while cinematography is handled by Jainan Vincent. According to Jayant C. Paranji, 'Love 4 Ever' is based on his own conception of love, which makes it different from some of his other films.


He added that in order to present the film beautifully, the cinematography has been handed over to Jainan Vincent. This will be Deepika's first appearance in Telugu film. The actress started her career with Kannada film 'Aishwarya' and made her debut in Hindi films with 2007 hit 'Om Shanti Om'. Deepika's performance in 'Om Shanti Om' won her the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award in 2008. Deepika Padukone will be seen next in Imtiaz Ali's 'Love Aaj Kal' opposite Saif Ali Khan.

Deepika Dislikes Beauty Pageants

Model-turned-Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone mentioned that she wanted to reserve a unique place for herself in the fashion industry but never by means of participating in any beauty pageants.

"I had set up an objective to become a model without winning any beauty pageants," said Deepika, while talking to the choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan on the sets of her chat show, ‘Tere Mere Beach Mein’, which is being aired on Star Plus.

But when asked if she had any specific reasons for this, she did not mention any specific cause for this aversion to beauty pageants.

A lot of Indian actresses including Aishwarya Rai, Sushmita Sen, Celina Jaitley, Lara Dutta and Dia Mirza joined Bollywood after earning fame through national and international beauty pageants.

Deepika gifts Ranbir - a LAPTOP

Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor was thrilled to see his birthday gift which was given by none other than his girlfriend Deepika Padukone. Ranbir Kapoor celebrated his 27^th birthday on Monday.

Deepika Padukone organized a surprise birthday party for her beau Ranbir Kapoor and invited few of his close friends where she gifted him a new sleek lap top.

A source said, “Deepika took Ranbir to a suburban restaurant on Sunday night on the pretext of having dinner. She had already called some of Ranbir’s very close friends, which included Rohit Dhawan and Ayan Mukherjee, the director of ‘Wake Up Sid.’ Ranbir, who is normally not a party animal, was pleased to see them and a couple of his old school friends. Ranbir was extremely thrilled.”

The source added, "Deepika and Ranbir and tech-savvy and keep upgrading their computers, phones, iPods etc. Whenever Ranbir shows her a new gadget, she tells him 10 new things she has already figured about it. At times, they are like small children squabbling over who know more about which gadget. Both are always competing with each other to gift the other the latest gizmo in the market."

During the dinner Deepika presented a high-end and sleek laptop to her gadget freak beau Ranbir. The sources revealed that Ranbir was so happy to see his gift that the actor immediately started checking its new features.

Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor - Gossip

Speculation is rife that Bollywood’s young lovers Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone are heading for a split. The young couple, it seems, are failing to keep up with their commitment and hence are involving in fights and tiffs, which have sparked off rumours that they are on the verge of breaking up.

The quarrels between the two are open and all their colleagues know about the tiff. People have blamed Neetu Singh as the cause for their fights.

Confirming the news a daily quoted a source as saying, “Everyone knows that Neetu never really approved of Deepika for her son even though Ranbir tried and succeeded, to a large extent, to make his mom thaw towards his girl. How Deepika became an Actress?

After pursuing a successful career in modeling, Padukone branched out into acting. She started by starring in the music video for the song Naam Hai Tera from the independent pop album Aap Kaa Surroor by Himesh Reshammiya.

In 2006, Padukone made her cinematic debut in the Kannada film Aishwarya starring opposite actor Upendra. She later made a successful Bollywood debut in 2007 with Farah Khan's international hit Om Shanti Om opposite Shahrukh Khan.

The film featured her portraying 1970s star Shantipriya and later as Sandhya aka Sandy, a young woman who looks exactly like Shantipriya. Her performance was well received, earning the actress a Filmfare Best Female Debut Award as well as her first Filmfare Best Actress nomination. Taran Adarsh from indiaFM noted, "Deepika has all it takes to be a top star — the personality, the looks and yes, she's supremely talented too. Padukone was born on January 5, 1986 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her family moved to Bangalore, India, when she was eleven months old. Padukone is of Mangalorean origin, and her mother tongue is Konkani. She is a Chitrapur Saraswat Brahmin, and her lineage hails from Padukone village in Kundapura Taluk in the Udupi District of the state of Karnataka, India.

Her father, Prakash Padukone, is a retired badminton player of international repute, and her mother is a travel agent. Padukone also has a younger sister, Anisha, born in 1991.

Padukone attended Sophia High School in Bangalore. She completed her pre-university studies at Mount Carmel College in Bangalore, India. While in high school she played badminton at the state level.

However, she was not keen on pursuing a career as a badminton player and abandoned it to concentrate on her ICSE exams.
