Gopika becomes a mother!

The Malayalee heroine Gopika who made an impact in Tamil cinema with films like Autograph had two years back bid farewell to her film career to get married.

She married Dr.Ajilesh an NRI who works in a hospital in Ireland. A few days back the couple were blessed with a baby girl at a hospital in Ireland.

Meanwhile Gopika’s parents will be joining her as soon as they get a Visa. Both the mother and her newborn daughter are doing well.

Gopika holds on

Gopika, who many thought is out for the count, is still holding on. After Chandupottu and Pachakuthira, she is again in the limelight. She is now acting in a couple of Tamil movies including Emttan Magan opposite Bharath. In Malayalam, she is acting in Keerthichakra opposite Mohanlal. Buzz is that she is now playing the heroine in Fazil's next directorial venture which features veteran actress Nadhiya in a prominent role.

Gopika docks in hotels

Following the likes of Dileep, who bought a boathouse in Alappuzha before the marriage, actress Gopika has decided to invest her money in hotel business. She is set to buy a restaurant soon that would be looked after by her father. It may be recalled that Dileep recently said venturing to different business is a must for the film artistes, since their hold on the industry is temporary. The name and fame may fade any time. The likes of Asin and Meera Jasmine too are involved in different businesses besides acting. Gopika, a busy actress in both Malayalam and Tamil, has now developed a liking for the hotel business.

Will Gopika say yes to Shankar

Director Shankar’s assistant Arivazhagan is all set to direct a movie very soon for Shankar’s production company S Pictures. This assistant director is very famous for describing scenes to the actors and actresses. Sources say that Arivazhagan is keen on roping in Gopika for his impending project. Now, it is well known that with no big offers to lure her to Kollywood, Gopika is busy with Malayalam films after her come back to film industry.

But this does not necessarily mean that she may not act in Tamil films at all, as she has starred in Prakash Raj’s Vellithirai. This is a clear indication that she is considering only offers that are worthwhile. It is expected that Gopika might disclose her consent to star in this film on her visit to Chennai for Velltithirai’s premiere during the first week of March. Will Gopika say yes to Shankar’s S Pictures ?

An Interview with Gopika

Following a successful stint in Malayalam and Tamil films, Gopika took a break after getting married to settle in Ireland with husband, Ajilesh. She is now all set to make a comeback with Swa Le

After a break, you are now coming back to acting with Swa Le (Swantham Lekhakan).

I won’t like to call it a comeback, since I wasn’t away from films for too long. It’s hardly over a year that I took a break after getting married. Anyway, it was a good story that came seeking me, a good role which I felt I should do. The team, especially Dileep, P. Sukumar etc, was one that I knew very well and felt at home working with. The dates too were comfortable for me. It was thus that I came to be part of the film.

How was it, acting once again ?

As I said, it was not a long break for me. So, it was as usual for me. The people here were all known to me and they all welcomed me back in a grand way. I was happy, but I don’t think I took a break long enough to be accorded a welcome back kind of thing.

Tell us about your role in Swa Le.

I am playing Vimala, the wife of Unni Madhavan, the protagonist of the movie, played by Dileep. Unni Madhavan is a newspaper reporter and is always busy. He gets a meager income and is always late in reaching home. There are lots of problems that Vimala has to face on account of this. Vimala is pregnant and she doesn’t get the care and attention of her husband in a big way because he is always away and busy.

Does the character have any likeness to the one you played in 'Veruthe Oru Bharya' ?

No, not at all. The two characters are temperamentally different.

Have you got any plans to act in more movies at present ?

It depends. In fact, as I said earlier, I did this film because I liked the subject, the dates suited me and the team was one that I was very comfortable with.

How’s life in Ireland ? How do Malayalees there respond to the presence of a star amongst them ?

Life is going great. I am very happy in my role as a housewife, looking after my house and my husband. Malayalees, when we meet them, do of course greet me and smile and wave, but their everyone is rather busy with their work and lives.
As for me, in my free time, I contact friends, talk with them, surf the net, chat with my near and dear ones, read etc.

Do you miss doing movies ?

Not really. Of course I always loved and still love doing movies. But by nature I am someone who doesn’t like being busy always. Hence I am happy with the way things are.

You have been active in Malayalam as well as Tamil films. Which do you miss the most ?

Malayalam, no doubt but this doesn’t mean that I don’t like doing Tamil films. But Malayalam is my mother tongue and Malayalam Cinema made me an actress. Hence, I shall always give priority to Malayalam films.

Which ones have been your favourite roles, till date ?

All the roles that I have done are my favourite ones. Still in Malayalam there’s Veruthe Oru Bharya and Chanthupottu; and in Tamil there are many, including Autograph.

No Regrets for Gopika

Actress Gopika had a good time as she made high waves in South Indian film industry. She had established a prominent place for her across Malayalam and Tamil film industries by performing meaty roles. But then after her marriage, she said temporary goodbye to acting.

But now with her family life making her more elated, the actress has no plans about getting back to acting. However, she had to accept the offer of Malayalam actor Dhilip, since the film had a powerful role for her. But then, many producers and filmmakers started approaching her with big offers.

Nonetheless, she has conveyed the message through her manager that she has no plans about resuming her acting career.

Kavya Madhavan and Gopika are travelling in the same path and are in stiff competition.

Generally, heroines today try to widen their profession in all languages.

But Kavya is starring only in Malayalam and her films are box office hits.

Gopika to enjoy motherhood in 'Swa Le'

Gopika tied the knot with Dr Ajilesh and had left the celluloid world and got settled in Ireland. However she has made a comeback through P Sukumar directed Malayalam movie Swantham Lekhakan opposite Dileep. And the latest news is that actress Gopika is all set to become a mother.


The actress herself revealed her desire to start a family at an interview. It may be considered a strange coincidence that she plays the role of a pregnant lady in the movie Swantham Lekhakan.. Earlier in July this year she was spotted with a baby bump, but when contacted the actress laughed and said that the role demanded so and that it was just her get up for the same.


Gopika who was here for the shooting of Swantham Lekhakan flew back to Ireland to celebrate her first wedding anniversary with her husband. It is also said that the actress had called her father and conveyed the happy news that he would soon be a grandfather. However we are stilling waiting for the confirmation from the actress herself.

Swale (Swantham Lekhakan) movie is all about a journalist Unni Madhavan (Dileep) who is working with a small news paper firm. There were a few workers in that firm.

But the Editor needs a lot of news. Unni Madhavan had struggled to collect more news. The sufferings Unni Madavan had to face during his work were created humorously.

Gopika tried for a good come back and we can say that she had got it almost completely. Will Gopika continue in this field utilizing this come back and making all her fans happy or not ? Let's wait and see.

Gopika's marriage on the rocks?

Here is the news (or gossip) we heard about Gopika before her marriage. According to the film circle, the actress Gopika is making a comeback to movies, hardly a year after her marriage to Ajilesh, a doctor settled in Ireland.


The actress is going to play the heroine’s role in Dileep’s new Malayalam film titled Swantham Lekhakan, which will be directed by cameraman-turned-director P Sukumaran.


In the film, Dileep and Gopika play investigative journalists of the 1980s who report a scoop that creates a political storm in Kerala.


The grapevine is also abuzz that her marriage is not working, as she misses facing the camera. According to the sources, she is also negotiating with a senior Tamil actor to play heroine in his yet to be launched movie.


We all now saw that all this come true. Will she continue her film life or just a single film. Let's wait and see.

Gopika's sister into movies

Established actors introducing their sisters into silver screens is not a new phenomenon in India. In Bollywood, Shilpa Shetty introduced her sister Shamita Shetty; in Southern films, we have seen the Travancore sisters, and more recently Nagma-Jyothika and Kajal Agarwal-Ishta Agarwal. Now, it is the turn of popular South Indian actress Gopika, who got married to Dr. Ajilesh last year.


According to sources, Gopika is all set to introduce her younger sister Gliny into films in an untitled Malayalam film by debutant director S. Binu Kumar. Gliny is to play the pivotal role as actor Mukesh’s daughter. Like her sister Gopika, Gliny will be soon be renamed by her director. She is now doing hospital management at Little Flower hospital, Angamaly.


"I have been getting offers for the last two years, but I was concentrating on my studies. I have read the complete script and this role is really tempting me," Gliny said. The story is about Narendran, a widower living with his daughter. Mridhula, who has divorced her husband, comes to stay in their neighbourhood and Narendran slowly falls in love with her. The story takes an unexpected turn from this point.


The film has music by Jaison J. Nair and lyricist by Vayalar Sarathchandra Varma. Dialogue is by Santhosh Rajasekhar and Jayasree Kumar. The movie is produced by R.P. Suresh Kumar under the banner of Bhagyadhara films. The film will be shot at the locations of Thodupuzha.

Gopika to soon launch her sister

After played her innings 'safely' in all South Indian languages, Gopika, the actress known for her girl next door appearance, is all set to launch her younger sister Gilini in the field.


Gliny is just looks like a clone of Gopika has already signed to do a Malayalam film and she will come to Tamil after getting enough training in her own field. At this moment Gliny is doing her PG in Hospital Management at the famous Angamally (Kaladi) Little Flower hospital in Kerala.


Says Gliny: "I have been getting offers for the last two years from famous Malayalam film makers, but I was concentrating my studies. But this role is really tempting and after reading the complete script I decided to do it. I’m also open to offers from Tamil"


In the mean time, many producers including the traditional AVM approach Gopika for their next ventures. The actress is now in her home town only and seriously thinking for a re debut with any one of those offers.
